TOUR : Paucartambo The Festival of the Virgin of Carmen and Tres Cruces(The second week 15-16th July.
Legend says that in colonial times the “qollas” of the high
plains came dwon to the valleys of Paucartambo on mule back to exchange
their products.On one occasion they carried the bust of the Virgin de
Carmen with them.When the moment to leave arrived,the beast that carried
the image refused to walk,either because of its celebrated stubbornnes
or because of a divine plan.The divinity still remains in Paucartambo.
Since the Virgin is venerated and a festival is celebrated in her honor
.However, since 1960 the festival has taken on greater importance.Year
after year,in the middle of July,from faraway villages and communities
of Cuscoarrive to Paucartambo dance groups with their own orquestras
that are contracted by the “mayordomos”that had been chosen
the previous year commited to paying all the cost involved .There have
to be nearly twenty “mayordomos”,each with their respective
dance groups ,all of them different .The mayordomos in return “jurcan”their
godfathers and friends,have them promise to be in charge of the food,drink
and other necessities ,that will be consumed by the guests during the
four day festival.
Tres Cruces gives a wonderful view of the strange optical conditions. At a height of 3600 m over the Manu Biosphere seeing three suns, haoles and magical rays of light.

TOUR : Q’eswachaka Hanging Bridge
110 Km southeast of Cusco to Combapata, from there another 31 Km to the hanging bridge. Wide bridge is the perfect spot to see the Apurimac River Canyon in all its splendour .Every second Sunday of June about 1000 local people come to weave it with braided straw of icchu grass and chachacomo , a process that takes three days .The task ,which predates the Incas ,uses traditional techniques and is executed in the framework of the area. The bridgework finishes on the fourth day giving way to singing and dancing.

TOUR: The Festival of the Virgin Of Calendaria,1th November.
The virgin of the Candelaria Festival originates from the 1780 Great Rebellion of Tupac Amaru II against Spanish rule.Legend has it that as the rebel Indian Leader Julian Apasa Tupac Catari tried to attack the city ,the Puneños paraded a 70 cm high imagen known besiegers,seeing only a mass of lights and burning torches marching toward them,felt into confusion and retreated.The people of Puno renamed the virgin La Candelaria and made her their Patron.Even without the flames of the torches or the now famous costumes,trombones,trumpets,baritones,and Sousa-style wrap-around basses being swung to the funked-up toetapping military rhythms and thumped enormous,drums painted with the name and banner of the group ,or “hermandad”while dancers swayed elegantly from side to side in the most simple of the many traditional dance forms on display.

TOUR : Llahuar Raymi-Wayar Fiesta(Bloody Party),28,29,30 and 31th July.
It is one of the maximum violence ritual expressions that can be offered to the Andean deities ,after arriving of the Spaniards. Traditional Indian version of the bullfight with the violence of the Christian men who oppress the Indian and condemn his traditions as barbarous. As a mater of the independence in 1821 Llahuar Raymi becomes one of the main acts for the celebration of the native parties on the 28th of July. It is burning crash between two races (Inka indigenous and Spaniards)that paradoxically leaves unbeaten the condor of the high mountains while is humiliated the Iberian bull ,there is not “Corrida de Toros” more tragic and bloody the Llahuar Raymi, where two titanic are put to demonstrate the bravery of race. The legendary bull of assassin horns, in the others side the condor of the heights that inchaines a hurricane with his wings while sinks its beak into the bull’s back there is something glorious and terrible in the dram of the following dance. Thoroughly it is a revenge which is the indigenous is recouped of centuries of injustice, represented by the condor always winning, ripping out pieces of meat, beating without compassion, nailing spreading the bull’s blood like red roses on the ground. The beast triples his combative force, grows in fury and attacks, for him the fight will finish with his death. In the other hand, the condor wins his freedom the prie for his deed.
